The Roman sanctuary dates back to the 4th century BC, although the greatest development occurs in the 1st and 2nd centuries BC. It is assumed that a large complex is dedicated to Jupiter, although the goddess Venus was another suggestion. One of the most important monuments is the remains of a vaulted ceiling with eleven arches, as well as an impressive cloister facing the sea.
