Aragonese Castle

The oldest part of the fortress dates back to 967, when the Byzantines began construction to protect them from attacks by the Saracens and the Venetian Republic. The castle is located on the island of Isola del Borgo Antico, separated from the city by a canal. In its over 1000-year history, the stronghold was used for military purposes, as well as a prison.
