The Cinecittà World theme park was opened in 2014, and its theme refers to the famous Roman film studio. The facility was designed by one of the greatest European screenwriters, three-time Oscar winner Dante Ferretti. Musical background was also dealt with by the winner of this prestigious award, the Italian composer and conductor, Ennio Morricone.
Studio Cinecittà was founded in 1937. In its heyday, over 350 films were produced annually. The most outstanding local directors such as Federico Fellini or Sergio Leone were associated with the studio. American productions were also shot here: Mel Gibson's 'Passion' and Martin Scorsese's 'Gangs of New York'.
