The museum is housed in the Renaissance palace of the princely family of Farnese, who in the past ruled Piacenza. Within it, among others, a court chapel has been preserved, decorated with 16th and 17th century frescoes and sculptural decorations.
The museum consists of several sections relating to various aspects of the city's history and culture. You can see here, among others ancient monuments from the Etruscan period, an Italian painting gallery, an exhibition of valuables belonging to the Farnese family, an exhibition of artistic crafts and weapons, as well as collections related to the Italian Resorgimento movement from the 19th centuryLess
