Gole Alcantara Botanical and Geological Park

Local name: Gole Alcantara Parco Botanico e Geologico

A deep gorge in Sicily arose as a result of the eruptions of Etna. Its walls in the highest place are 50 m. In some places frozen basalt columns with a hexagon section are visible on the walls. The bottom of the gorge flows in a stream of very cold water, creating small pools in some places. A walking trail runs through the gorge.
