Church of San Carlo Al. Corso is located in the very center of Milan. Represents neoclassical architectural style. The construction of the temple began in 1844. It was then that the architect Carlo Amati designed the façade of the building. The whole was completed in 1847. The excellent form of the building made the church a model for the Chiesa Rotonda in San Bernardino, Switzerland.
The Basilica was erected as a tribute to the end of the cholera epidemic. The entire complex was replaced by the former Ushua Monastery, which stood at this site since 1290. The new church was dedicated to Saint Charles Borromeo, who was a bishop of Milan during the plague epidemic of the 16th century.
