Scaliger Castle of Malcesine

The most characteristic building in Malcesine and a great viewpoint on the town on the shores of Lake Garda. The beginnings of the castle date back to the 8th century, but in its present form it was built at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries by the Scala family from Verona. It is a Gothic, defensive castle with a high, square tower, on which there is currently a viewing platform. Inside, some Renaissance wall decorations and furniture have survived. There are also exhibitions of weapons and hunting trophies.
