Livigno is one of the most important Italian ski resorts. It has over 100 km of perfectly prepared ski slopes, and the snow stays here for 9 months a year.
Advertised as the sunniest alpine resort, Livigno was still a small alpine village in the middle of the 20th century, which, due to its location under the Passo del Foscagno, remained cut off from the rest of the year for most of the year. The road, which was covered with snow for most of the year, allowed contact with the rest of the valley only in the summer. The construction of the tunnel, initially intended for the transport of materials intended for the construction of the Punt dal Gall dam, changed everything. After completion of construction, the tunnel was put into commercial use.
The opening of the all-year-round access to Livigno meant that investments in ski infrastructure appeared here quickly. Due to the location of the village, snow usually lies here from the second half of September to the end of May. Today, the slopes of the mountains lying on both sides of the villages are occupied by two huge ski resorts, Mottolino Fun Mountain and Carosello 3000. They offer 115 km of perfectly prepared slopes of various levels of difficulty, a snow park, ski schools and the care of instructors.
The resort also has excellent apres-ski facilities, including bars, restaurants, clubs, spa centers, an ice rink and many other attractions. Animators for children are available in the facilities and on the slopes. There are also various themed events and active trips such as dog sleds.
Ltem Livigno is becoming a center of active tourism. The surrounding mountains allow for hiking. You can also ride bikes, fly paragliders and enjoy nature.
