Saint Gallo Gate

The gate was formerly part of the city walls. It was built in the 13th century, and in the 18th century it was thoroughly rebuilt. There is a plaque commemorating the visit of the Danish king Frederick IV, who came to Florence in 1708 to meet his former beloved, who was already a nun in the local order.
