The travertine temple, designed in the Moorish style, was opened in 1882. On the first floor of the synagogue there is a museum dedicated to the history of Florentine Jews. A plaque with the names of Jewish residents of the city who were murdered during the fascist dictatorship was installed in the garden next to the building.
