Neptune gushing out of water is the work of Bartolomeo Ammannati and Giambologna (Giovanni da Bologna). The fountain was created in the years 1563-1565 to celebrate the finale of the construction of a new municipal aqueduct. The god of the sea has the features of Prince Kosma and Medici, who was then ruling Florence.
