Gardens Of Nymph
Local name: Giardino di Ninfa
Vast, picturesque gardens were established in the medieval city of the same name. They were built in the 18th-century English landscape style. They have the status of a natural monument. The New York Times ranked it as "one of the most beautiful and romantic gardens in the world."
In the garden there are ruins of medieval buildings, grottos and numerous streams and lakes. Both native oaks and poplars grow here, as well as exotic species from all over the world, including avocados, bananas and Japanese maples. Extensive rose bushes climb up the stone walls, and they have also been created here. In total, around 1,300 plant species grow in the gardens.
There are over 150 species of birds in the gardens. They include birds of prey such as peregrine falcons and barn owls, as well as wading species including gray herons.
