The monumental cathedral combines the Normandy style with Arabic and Byzantine elements. Its construction lasted from the 12th to the 13th century. Particularly noteworthy are the mosaics, including the oldest ones from 1148. The cathedral was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List and recognized as a national monument.
