The gate was built in 1695 by Prince Camastra and dedicated to the viceroy Paceco Uzeda, who supported the reconstruction of the city after the earthquake in 1693. The portal connects the seminary with the archbishop's palace and the cathedral of St. Agata. The monument was designed in the Baroque style typical of Catania.
