The fountain is decorated with sculptures of dolphins and a sea monster with a dolphin's head. They were made by Gaetano Salomone in the years 1776-1779. The fountain reservoir is 470 meters long, 27 meters wide and 3 meters deep. There is a cave under the tufa rocks.
