Canazei is a mountain resort in the beautiful Val di Fassa valley in the heart of the Italian Dolomites. In winter it is one of the most popular ski regions, and in summer it is a paradise for people who like hiking and mountain biking.
A small town with traditional Tyrolean buildings, it is surrounded by the massifs of the highest peak of the Dolomites, Marmolada and the Sella, Sassolungo and Canazei massifs. Around the picturesque center there are estates of hotels, guesthouses and apartments for rent. Due to the relatively uniform character of the entire development, the town is harmoniously composed with the surrounding landscape.
In winter, Canazei is the most important center of ski tourism in Val di Fassa. The Canazei-Belvedere ski region has 25 km of pistes and is connected to two other resorts, Buffaure and Ciampac. In addition to good access, they are also connected by the Skitour Panorama cross-country skiing trail. There are also special snowboard tracks with half pipes. Canazei is also a good base for downhill runs in nearby Val Gardena. In winter, an indoor ice rink operates in the village.
In summer, Canazei's main attractions are the hiking and climbing routes that take you to the surrounding mountains. There are both simple routes available for even beginners, as well as via ferrata routes and climbing routes. You can get to the top of Marmolada both on foot and by a year-round gondola lift. At its intermediate station there is the highest situated Museum of Europe presenting the history of World War I and the fighting in the Dolomites. There are also excellent mountain bike routes in the Canazei area. There is also a large water park with a leisure and spa center, the Centro acquatico Dòlaondes.
