The name of the museum comes from the name of the famous English admiral Horatio Nelson, who was given the palace and the title of Prince Bronte for helping to put down the revolution in Naples (1800). Currently, it houses an interior museum, presenting apartments and preserved fragments of the Dominican monastery from the 11th century, on whose foundations a palace was built.
