The villa is an example of the 18th-century Lombard baroque. The entire complex is surrounded by forests, moors and farmland of approximately 200 hectares. The main architect of the villa was Count Galeazzo Arconati, a well-known collector, who had, among others, Leonardo da Vinci's "Codex Atlantic".
