The cathedral is one of the most outstanding examples of Romanesque architecture in Bari. It was built at the turn of the 12th and 13th centuries on the ruins of a Byzantine cathedral destroyed by Norman Wilhelm. The facade of light limestone is decorated with a beautiful rosette.
