Romanesque basilica considered to be the symbol of the city and one of the most valuable monuments of Romanesque architecture in Italy. The temple was built after bringing the relics of Saint Nicholas to Bari in 1087. Construction probably ended in 1103. The Polish queen Bona Sforza d'Aragon was buried in the cathedral.
