The museum, located in the former convent of San Bernardo, built on the ruins of a Roman amphitheater from the 2nd century AD. The collection was previously located elsewhere and has been in existence since 1823. Its range covers Roman and Etruscan art, as well as Greek. The finds come mainly from the city and its vicinity.
