Viking Splash Tours are sightseeing tours of Dublin that take place aboard the DUKW amphibious vehicles known as "drakes". The route first takes you through the city streets, and climaxes when the vehicle leaps into the water at the Grand Canal's newly built docks. The guides, dressed in Viking costumes, tell about the monuments and the history of the Vikings in Dublin. A single ride takes about 75 minutes, of which about a quarter of an hour is the waterway.
The history of Viking Splash Tours dates back to 1999, when an Irish-American couple - Peter and Lynda Stocks - brought the first amphibious vehicle to Dublin. Inspired by similar Boston Duck Tours, the couple successfully transferred the idea to Ireland.
