The National Museum of Printing is located in the former Beggars Bush barracks chapel in Dublin. It shows the history of the art of printing in Ireland from the medieval times to the present day. At the exhibition, you can see old printing presses, devices and fonts from various periods of time, as well as examples of prints made.
The museum was established in 1996. Its main purpose is to collect all items related to the development of printing in Ireland. The museum's collection includes a replica of Gutenberg's famous medieval printing press. There are also later machines, thanks to which you can trace how the printing tools changed and how this art developed.
An important part of the collection are prints made on old devices. The museum can boast of having, among other things, the original copy of the Irish Declaration of Independence from 1916. There are also printed announcements, posters and books.
