Ireland's Museum of Contemporary Art, also known as IMMA, displays a wide range of modern art. The collection of the facility includes the Irish National Collection of Modern and Contemporary Art, consisting of over 3,500 works by Irish and international artists. You can see the works of, among others, Marinas Abramović, Joseph Cornell, Robert Rauschenberg and Sol LeWitt. The exhibitions are temporary and are changed periodically.
The museum is housed in the 17th-century building of the Royal Kilmainham Hospital. It was built as a home for retired soldiers and served as a home for almost 250 years. It was modeled on Les Invalides in Paris. The interiors are filled with long corridors along which there are small adjoining rooms. The original stables have been restored, extended and transformed into art studios.
