The waterfall measures 198 m and is the second tallest waterfall in Iceland. Until 2007, it was considered the largest. It is situated at the end of the Botndalur valley, at the foot of Mount Hvalfell. Two tourist routes lead to it, requiring e.g. defeat the streams.
