Local name: Πορτάρα - Πύλη του Ναός του Απόλλωνα

A huge portal dating from the 6th century BC from an unfinished temple. It stands on a small island connected to Naxos with a stone causeway. The portal is directed towards Delos, which mythology indicated as the birthplace of Apollo. Hence, many historians believe that the temple was to be dedicated to this god.
