Archaeological site in Crete including several dozen objects from the prehistoric period to the Roman times. Gortyn was the Roman capital of Crete. Here you can see Greek and Roman temples, Roman baths, the odeon, the acropolis and an exhibition of sculptures discovered during the excavations. One of the walls of the former public buildings is covered with the so-called Gortyn Tablets, on which the law in force at that time was written.
