The world's largest monument dedicated to the Reformation. It was unveiled in 1868. It refers to the Protestant hymn "The Lord is my fortress". The square space is surrounded on three sides by a defensive wall. In its corners and in the middle of the walls were placed figures of humanists and scholars distinguished for the Reformation. In the central part of the square stands a monument to Martin Luther, whose pedestal is surrounded by allegorical representations of important events for the Reformation movement.
