The Buchenwald memorial camp keeps the memory of over 50,000 prisoners who died here in 1937-1945. The central monument of the camp is a 55-meter tower with ashes and soil from other death camps and extermination sites. At its base is a sculpture by Fritz Cramer (1906-1993), depicting members of the camp resistance.
