The museum is located in the former Grand Hotel Alpenrose. Its windows offer a panoramic view of the Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles and the Alpsee lake. The main exhibition hall is located under the glass dome of the former dining room. An exhibition showing the history of the Wittelsbach family from its beginnings in the 12th century to the present is presented.
