The garden pavilion was built in the chinoiserie style in the years 1770-1772 by order of the King of Prussia, Frederick II the Great. It was the second East Asian-style building erected in the Sanssouci Park. It is in the form of a four-story pagoda and is decorated with 16 gilded carvings of dragons from which it is named.
