The baroque building was erected in the years 1763-1769 for the Prussian king Frederick II the Great, intended for a guest house. It is currently the seat of the Potsdam University and the museum of palace interiors. Visitors can see the grotto room, whose walls have been lined with shells, glass, quartz and semi-precious stones.
