The neo-Gothic tower was built in the mid-nineteenth century for the emperor Wilhelm I according to the design of Johann Heinrich Stracek. It is 46 meters high and currently houses an observation platform from which there is a picturesque view of the whole of Potsdam. The tower also has a permanent exhibition dedicated to the building itself as well as the history of the park.
