Citadel Mainz

Built at the beginning of the 17th century and successively expanded until World War I, the fortress was initially composed of compact fortifications around the city. Over time, outer forts began to arise. By 1909, over 300 shelters and forts were built around the city within a radius of 26 km from the center. Currently, only some of them exist.
