The park foundation surrounding the 17th-century Wilhelmshöhe palace was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2013. The 2.4 km2 green area is the largest mountain park in Europe. It is famous for a very extensive system of cascades, streams and fountains, including the giant Fountain of Hercules.
