Rieck Haus is an open-air museum in the form of an open-air museum. On its site you can see different types of buildings. The oldest of them come from 1533 and are the oldest agricultural buildings in Lower Germany preserved to this day.
In the Rieck Haus open-air museum, visitors can see, among others, a barn, a small peasant house with a stone stove and a drainage mill. All buildings on the museum grounds were built using boards and wooden beams.
Buildings within the museum allow visitors to see not only architecture from centuries ago, but also learn about the history of agriculture and technology. Inside the buildings we will see furniture and equipment, as well as agricultural equipment from different periods.
Rieck Haus is a branch of the Altonaer Museum. Currently, buildings from the 16th century were bought by the city in the 1950s. After a thorough renovation, they were made available to visitors.
