Villar-d'Arêne is a mountain village in the Alps. It is surrounded by over 3 thousand. m asl peaks, and the town is a good starting point for hiking.
In summer, the surroundings of monumental mountains and deep valleys give tourists the opportunity to admire beautiful views. Villar-d'Arêne's attractions include hiking trails and viewpoints such as the Pic de Neige Cordier view, the Lautaret viewpoint and the bend viewpoint. Some places can be reached by car or after a short walk, others require several hours of hiking along the trails.
In Villar-d'Arêne, you can visit the village, historic church and admire the traditional stone buildings. In the immediate vicinity, there is also the Lautaret Alpine Garden, in which a collection of mountain plants characteristic for this part of the Alps is presented.
In winter, two small ski stations operate near Villar-d'Arêne, La Grave-La Meije and Col du Lautaret, with several kilometers of ski slopes. There are also cross-country skiing tracks around.
