Vauban's Tower in Tatihou

Local name: Tour Vauban de Tatihou

After France lost the naval battle of La Hougue in 1692, it was decided to build two defensive towers on the mound in La Hougue and on the island of Tatihou. The buildings defending the entrance to the bay were built in 1694 according to the design of Benjamin de Combes, a student of Vauban, the famous court engineer Louis XIV.
