GATTEVILLE-LE-PHAREFrance
Gatteville Lighthouse
Local name: Phare de Gatteville
Already in 1774, during the reign of Louis XVI, the first 25-meter-high lighthouse was built here. At its top there was a fire, fed with wood and coal. In 1825, it was decided to erect a new tower. It is almost 75 meters high and is the second tallest lighthouse in Europe. The old lighthouse has become a semaphore and a technical monument.
