Museum of Models

The museum of military mockups is located in the Hotel Inwalidów in Paris. It is a place where military models of fortresses, cities and military plans from France and abroad are shown. An archive gathering military technical documentation operates at the museum.

The museum was founded in the mid-twentieth century to protect spatial military models created in France since the seventeenth century. They were initially used as teaching aids in officers' schools. Over time, they were considered works of art. The collections shown in Paris are unique on a global scale. Dozens of mockups recreate with great precision the appearance of fortresses, forts, defensive walls and other military equipment from France and the world.
