Cinematheque Francaise is a French film organization that documents the achievements of local cinematography. Its collections date back to the beginning of the 20th century. It currently occupies a post-modern building in the 12th district designed by the world-famous architect Frank Gehry.
The organization was established in 1930. It has documents, old film recordings, books and items related to the history of cinema. Cinematheque Francaise also manages the Cinematography Museum, which is located in its building.
The Museum building was put into use after many perturbations at the end of the 20th century. It is a postmodern building with fanciful shapes, reminiscent of a developing film tape. In addition to the offices, the building houses an archive, a library, and cinema halls where you can watch, among others, old productions and a museum.
