Édith Piaf Museum

Local name: Musée Édith Piaf

The Edith Piaf Museum is located in a private apartment in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, which the singer occupied at the beginning of her career. It is a small, private museum that displays Piaf memorabilia such as her black dresses, jewelry, gloves, letters, everyday items and fan letters.

Edith Piaf is one of the most recognizable French singers in the world. Short (she was only 142 cm tall), she was endowed with a powerful voice with an unusual, slightly rough timbre. She usually appeared in long, narrow, black dresses, which became her trademark.

The apartment where the museum is located belonged to Bernard Marchois, one of Piaf's most ardent fans. The artist lived there for some time. Marchois has gathered numerous memorabilia of her here. After his death, the Edith Piaf Society of Friends took over the care of the museum. The exhibition features elements of the artist's stage costumes, including those hung on mannequins, as well as her black dresses and gloves. There are also private and performance photos, gold and platinum plates, jewelry and a collection of Chinese porcelain. The tour is accompanied by songs played by Edith Piaf.
