Cour du Commerce Saint-André

Local name: Cour du Commerce Saint-André

The Saint Andre Passage is located in the center of Paris, near the island of La Cite. It is a narrow street with small cafes, bars, bookstores and shops with sweets and knick-knacks.

The arcade was established in 1775 and is one of the few places in the very center of Paris that has not changed since then. All the time it is lined with the same, slightly crooked cobblestones, and the decorated facades of narrow houses climb up above it.

In the Passage, there is the oldest French cafe, Le Procope, which was established before its creation, at the end of the 17th century. Its regulars were, among others, Victor Hugo, George Sand and Oskar Wilde. There is also one of the most famous candy and chocolate shops that has been run for over 100 years by the Cluizel family.
