The monument from 1928 is dedicated to 3,665 inhabitants of Nice who lost their lives during the First World War. The 32-meter high monument is considered the largest of its kind in France. The bas-reliefs, allegorical representations of war and peace are the work of the French artist Alfred Janniot.
