Place Charles Félix is located in the historic center of Nice called Vieux-Nice. The famous French artist Henri Matisse lived on the third floor at the Caïs Pierlas Palace. Earlier, the palace belonged to the Italian families Ribotti and Caïs.
Henri Matisse lived at the turn of the 20th century and is considered the most famous creator of French Fauvism. He was a friend and rival of Pablo Picasso. Matisse's most important works include 'Open Window' and 'Yellow Curtain'.
