The temple, built in the 11th century and rebuilt many times until the 16th century, is now an eclectic synthesis of the Romanesque, Gothic and early Renaissance styles. The remains of the original baptistery are the oldest part of the cathedral. Some 12th-century frescoes have also been preserved.
