Numbering 10.5 thousand. The square was infamous in 1937 as the site of the lynching of 5-year-old Paul Gignoux by other children - the oldest perpetrator was 13 years old. The most interesting monument in this area is the statue of Joseph Marie Jacquard, who invented and patented an automatic loom for the production of jacquard fabrics.
