A fortified medieval castle in the Loire Valley, transformed into a residence in later centuries. It belonged to the French kings and there was a prison in its dungeons. The central part of the castle is a massive, rectangular fortress with walls reaching four floors. A residence was built around it in the 16th century, which absorbed part of the walls.
