The history of this extensive city square dates back to the second half of the 17th century. It is adjacent to the mighty Palace of the Dukes of Burgundy. For over a hundred years, the equestrian statue of Louis XV stood on the square, but it was destroyed in 1792. Currently, there are three fountains and the square serves as a city promenade.
