The synagogue in Bordeaux is the largest and, according to experts, the most beautiful synagogue in all of France. An impressive edifice in the neo-Gothic-oriental style was erected in the years 1880–1882. During World War II, the synagogue was plundered and devastated. Currently, it performs religious functions again.
